Grey/Bruce Ride.....

On Wednesday I went for a ride with my buddies Rob ('08 BMW F800) and Dave ('03 VFR 800) through the Grey/Bruce area. Left at 7am (in the fog and rain) and headed up towards Lion's Head. Our goal was to ride to Thornbury (near Collingwood) and have lunch at The Dam Pub.

The sun finally broke through as we travelled along CR 1 and Hwy 26 along the lake shore and saw some beautiful homes and scenery. Lots of twisties too. Put about 500km on the bike and had a great day.

ABC Gathering 2009

Well, ABC Gathering 2009 at the Kincardine airport was a huge success. Ducati Canada was there, along with some significant aircraft as well (Supermarine Spitfire MK9, Canso PBY Catalina, B25 Mitchell, Sopwith 1.5 Strutter, and replica Fokker DR1 Triplane).

Lots of cool bikes and cars showed up as well.

My Story

ParkingPuck was an idea that came to me in the summer of 2006. It incorporates two of my favourite things in life……Hockey and Motorcycling. However, life has been interesting up to now and hopefully will continue to be so in the future.

I grew up in a home that was constantly being treated as a war zone between my parents. Eventually they split up when I was 11 years old and proceeded to tear each other apart in the courts. I lived with my Mum and was constantly listening to the poisoned outlook on life and my Dad. We spent a few years living on social assistance which made it tough for my brother and I.

When I was in my teens I was brought face to face with a life changing experience with Jesus Christ. I’ll never forget that day….a surge of LIFE came into my heart and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face for hours. Of course, no-one in my family understood what I had committed my life to and I faced much ridicule from them and my friends. Eventually, I drifted back to my old lifestyle but never really forgot about God or what had happened. A number of years later, one of my best friends was killed on his motorcycle. Although it was a terrible loss to his family, it wasn’t really a life changing thing for me.

Around the same point in my life however I started to notice that the life I was living was an empty one – spending time in the bars, partying and wasting money on booze and drugs. I realized that was not the direction I wanted to follow in life and I guess I started to search again.

At this point I met a girl who captivated me. She had just received Christ into her life and in my heart I knew that this was the right way to go. We entered into a relationship and soon after I had recommitted my life to Jesus Christ. Life began to change. All of my old friends dropped out of my life, new Christian friends entered, and I married my girlfriend.

About 7 years after that, I ended up getting Type 1 diabetes which requires that I take insulin shots every day. This came as a blow to me and effectively ceased any plans that I had for pursuing a ministry. It has been almost 16 years now but I am expecting God to heal me one day.

I remember around that time I was questioning God as to what I could offer or say to people about the Christian life. I couldn’t offer them health as I had diabetes, I couldn’t offer them wealth as I also had debts, but I could offer them happiness. At this specific moment in time I sensed God speaking so clearly to my heart. He said “I put love in your heart and you can forgive your Dad”. This floored me and I felt the warmth of God’s touch and heart at that moment.

My parents eventually reconciled somewhat, although it was on my Mum’s deathbed and I believe that she had asked Jesus to come into her life before she died. There is no other way that she could have forgiven my Dad if she had not experienced Christ’s forgiveness herself.
I still have struggles today, as everyone does, but I know that God is there to speak to and hear my prayers. I’m asking you to consider where your life is and to ask Jesus Christ into your heart to have a fresh beginning. It’s easy, just follow these steps…..

1) Recognize that you can’t live life the way that you have been.

2) Recognize that the sin in your life is keeping you apart from God and a relationship with Him. Everybody has sin in their life and Jesus died to atone for that sin and reconcile us with God.

3) Ask Jesus to forgive you for your sin and come into your heart and life. Give the reigns of your life over to Him. He obviously knows what’s best for us and will do a much better job of leading us than we can do on our own.

4) Thank Him for his forgiveness and accept Him.

5) Now, get to know Him. It’s not about joining a church, or a religion, but developing a relationship with Jesus. Talk to Him daily, read the Bible (start in the New Testament in the Book of Matthew) and pray and ask God for understanding.

6) Find some other believers to fellowship with and discuss your relationship with God and what He has been teaching you.

I hope and pray that you will consider what I have shared here and begin a new and fulfilling life with God.
